Shuyin Yu, H.B.A., M.A., PhD(c)
Email: shuyin.yu1@ucalgary.ca Webpage: University of Calgary Profile: Shuyin Yu Shuyin Yu is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of English at the University of Calgary. She received her Honours Bachelor of Arts from the University of Toronto and her Master of Arts from the University of Calgary. Her primary research interests are critical race theory (focusing on East Asian diaspora studies), queer theory (specifically asexuality studies), and intersectional feminist theory. Most of her work focuses on children’s and young adult literature, cultural studies, food studies, and pedagogy. She has also published creatively. As a part of her dissertation, Shuyin Yu explores the ways young adult literature facilitates conversations about race, gender, queerness, and other forms of marginalization and the pedagogical implementation of these texts for readers of all ages. Shuyin Yu serves on the English Department Graduate Association (EDGA) and is a Graduate Scholar at the University of Calgary Graduate College. She formerly served as Co-Chair of the University of Calgary, Department of English, Interdisciplinary Graduate Conference Free-Exchange (2018-2020). |
