President, United Active Living Inc.                                     

Gail Hinchliffe is President of United Active Living Inc., an Alberta based company established in 1997 with a commitment to providing seniors with opportunity to flourish in their latter years through the holistic programs available in their retirement communities.

Thorough research into seniors’ health issues and housing options across Canada and North America directed the company’s development focus towards the rapidly emerging field of assisted living.  The company has completed and is operating  a full assisted living residence with 24 hour on-site care in St. Albert and has commenced construction in Garrison Green in Calgary. Further sites are being negotiated in both Edmonton and Calgary.,  , As President of United Active Living Inc. Gail is responsible for operations,  strategic growth, and undertaking expanding development opportunities.   She  has served as Chair and director of a number of community and charitable foundations.  Memberships are held with the Society for Art in Health Care,  Assisted Living Federation of America (ALFA), and the Alberta Association on Gerontology.  In 2003 she completed the post graduate gerontology program:  Studies in Aging at Mount Royal College.  She values her continued association with Mount Royal College through being a member of the Advisory Board for the Mount Royal College Gerontology Program,  Steering committee for the annual Housing Forum, and Board Member for the Alumni Board.

She  encourages inclusion of housing as an important ingredient to healthy retirement and aging.   She has presented papers on the role of housing in successful aging, as a component of health, and as a contribution towards comfort in retirement.   The emphasis on housing is from a holistic perspective, recognizing the need to nourish body, mind and spirit.  Particular emphasis is placed on the role of Creative Expression programs to encourage growth and fulfillment in everyday living.
